Thank you for your
interest in Good Earth Agriculture!
If you have read our
website then you’ll know that one of our guiding principles is that of
improving the lives of individuals and the quality of life in our community.
This is a poor part of Thailand
and there is very little employment available. Most families have several
members working away in order to send money back for support. This has caused
Good Earth Agriculture some moral problems. We feel compelled to provide as
much local employment as possible but we also want to share our knowledge and
passion for sustainable living with as many people as possible from around the
world.
The solution that we
have come up with is to charge a small fee to our
guests in order to use this money to provide paid employment to villagers. This
fee includes all meals and modern accommodation with a swimming pool. The money
collected will go to improving life in our village and the surrounding area and providing wages for local people. So, in addition to receiving your room and board and educational
information on sustainable agriculture, you are also creating a paid job for a local person while you are here.
The minimum stay is one week and the cost is 1,500 Thai baht ($50). Stays longer than one week are available at 200 Thai baht per day. This includes accommodation, three healthy meals a day and use of the swimming pool, bicycles, laundry facilities, etc.
The type of activities that you do are up to you. We have a wide variety of gardening,
agricultural, aquaculture and aquaponics activities on our farm. Choose the area
that suits you best or try them all in order to learn more about them. If you
have a particular area that you would like to learn about we can arrange that or you can learn about sustainable
agriculture and aquaculture in general. How many hours per day you wish to spend
on learning is up to you.
Teaching English at
a local school is also a volunteer option.
